GBC Secondary College Sport

On Saturday, 27 April, the College hosted Redeemer Lutheran College for the first round of Term 2 sports. Our Netballers had a dominant morning. The Senior First team got off to a strong start, winning 34-18. Likewise, our Junior Firsts won 40-13, and Junior Seconds won 13-9. Our Intermediate First Netballers had a closely contested game; however, they lost 29-35. In Touch Football, the Junior First team won 10-4. Unfortunately, the Intermediate team lost 9-4, as did the Senior team (lost 7-1). In Indoor Cricket, the Intermediates won an outstanding 160-0 vs Sheldon College at OzSports Browns Plains. The Junior team recorded a win as a result of a forfeit. Lastly, in Football (Soccer), our Intermediate team lost 2-0 and our Senior team lost 3-1. It was pleasing to see a few of our past students coach and support our Football teams on Saturday morning.

This weekend, we play Faith Lutheran College away from home.

Indoor Cricket
On Saturday, our three teams played their first-round Indoor Cricket matches.  Our Year 5/6 blue team had an exceptional win over Redeemer Lutheran College (165 to 12), displaying some good batting partnerships, excellent bowling, and fielding.  The Year 5/6 Red team went down to Sheldon College in a close game (68 to 60), with everyone showing excellent sportsmanship and putting in an outstanding effort.  Our Year 3/4 team came up with a win over Redeemer and a fantastic way to begin the season, considering most of the team had never played before.

Touch Football
On Saturday, TSAC primary travelled to Redeemer Lutheran College to participate in their first round of GBC Touch Football.  Year 3/4 were first to take the field against Sheldon College and looked like veterans, showing great skills in both defence and offence. They took the win in their first round and then backed up with a second game against Redeemer. Our two Year 5/6 teams took the field in the second round, with 5/6 Red taking on a strong Sheldon College team. Both teams traded tries early, but TSAC’s 5/6 Red team showed great resilience and with no subs for the whole game, kept the battle close, losing by 1 try. Year 5/6 Blue played against Staines Memorial College and put on an attacking clinic, rucking through the middle of Staines to become the victors for the round.

Next Saturday, TSAC will play at home on the TSAC Primary Campus oval. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
