GBC Secondary College Sport

On Saturday 10th February, the Secondary GBC Term 1 sport teams travelled to Redeemer Lutheran College for the first fixture of the year. Our Senior Firsts, Intermediate Firsts and Intermediate Seconds faced challenging matches, each resulting in a 3-0 loss. Despite these outcomes, these athletes demonstrated sportsmanship and determination throughout the games. The Junior Firsts and Junior Seconds, whilst facing a 2-0 loss and 2-1 loss, showed tremendous skill and effort. The wealth of students participating in the Junior Volleyball squads is exciting for TSAC sport. Turning our attention to girls AFL, our Intermediate team displayed a remarkable performance with a resounding 97-0 win. The Seniors also demonstrated their exceptional ability, securing a hard-fought 36-22 victory. These achievements underscore the talent and teamwork within our girls’ AFL teams. Equally, our boys AFL teams dominated with our Junior boys winning 61-3 and Intermediate boys winning 107-6. It is evident that many of our boys and girls AFL players are involved with club AFL, and this skill is being brought into our school environment. Lastly, in girls Basketball, our Senior girls started off with a strong first win of the season beating Redeemer 17-14.

Round 2 of GBC sport commences this Saturday, where we host Sheldon College at home. All athletes are expected to arrive 30 minutes before the start of their game. There will be a BBQ available hosted by our P&F. We look forward to as many athletes, spectators and staff at the Secondary campus on Saturday 17th February.

Netball

Over the weekend TSAC students participated in the first round of GBC Netball. Year 5/6 Blue took the court first and delivered an outstanding performance taking home the win. 5/6 White and 5/6 Red played shortly after, each team went out hard and showcased their skills in attack and defence, however they were unsuccessful in securing the win over Redeemer.

3/4 Red and 3/4 Blue played tough matches against Redeemer and Staines, both teams went out strong and continued to improve as time went on. Both teams worked hard in defence and showed great communication and passing skills in attack. All teams should be proud of their performance over the weekend. Let’s work hard at training this week and showcase our skills in Round 2 this Saturday

AFL

On Saturday the 10th of February our GBC primary AFL teams played their first fixture at TSAC Primary. The fixture was luckily able to go ahead as rain threatened throughout the morning. Our 3/4 and 5/6 teams both played at 8:00am and against Sheldon College.

Both teams embodied our school values with Respect, Integrity and Courage. A special congratulations to our 3/4 students who for many was their first ever time representing TSAC and playing an AFL game. Our younger students walked away victorious and left the ground on a high. Our 5/6 team showed great experience and challenged Sheldon college every step of the way. We wish the best of luck to our student athletes next week as they make there way to Redeemer Lutheran College.
