As I leave for retirement, I can’t help but be filled with a mix of emotions. This has been a remarkable chapter in my life, a 20 1/2 year journey that has been fulfilling and rewarding. As a laboratory technician, I have had the privilege of contributing to the advancement of the Science Faculty at TSAC. When I started, we were working out of a demountable building on the Primary Campus with Dr. Morris, before I moved to the Secondary Campus in 2008.

I remember the day I first stepped into the Primary Campus. It feels like it was just yesterday. The excitement and nervousness of starting a new job were overwhelming, but little did I know that the two campuses would become my second home, and my colleagues and students my second family.

The Science Faculty was established by Dr. Judy Morris and the labs became a space for discovery and learning for both Primary and Secondary students. I have been fortunate to work alongside some of the brightest minds in the Science community. Collaborating with passionate teachers, researchers, scientists, and fellow technicians has been a constant source of inspiration for me. It has been a privilege to help students conduct experiments, analyse data, make groundbreaking achievements, and see the impact of their learning as some of them pursue a future career in Science.

As a laboratory technician, it has been immensely touching to know that my contributions to TSAC, though often behind the scenes, have played a crucial role in advancing science for students on both campuses and made it a better place for their future development.

As I move to the next phase of my life, I will carry cherished memories of my time as a laboratory technician. I may be stepping away from the Laboratory preparation bench, but I will always remain connected to the world of science. Thank you to the TSAC Community for being a part of my journey. My retirement from TSAC may symbolise the end of one era, but it also signifies the beginning of a new chapter in my life, one filled with gratitude.
