GBC Secondary

After a tough first round of GBC Sport against Redeemer Lutheran College, teams travelled west to Faith Lutheran College Plainlands last Saturday for Round 2. Teams enjoyed many successes throughout the morning, but most of all enjoyed the warm hospitality the Crusader counterparts are known for offering. This was of course until the morning was cut slightly short with the announcement of the impending 4pm lockdown. Fortunately, all games with exception of a highly entertaining Senior Boys Football match had concluded.

The Junior Football boys continued their dominating form with a solid victory over their also undefeated opponents. If this form continues, they are a very good chance of a finals berth later in the term. The Senior Firsts Boys Basketball team continue their impressive run with yet another blockbusting win. Games against Ambrose Treacy College and Sheldon College will prove tough but there’s no doubt our boys will be ready. The Senior Girls Touch Football team have also shown they are true contenders with an outstanding victory over a team many believed would be holding aloft the trophy at the end of term. To say the Faith girls were humbled is an understatement! Finally, the Senior Firsts Volleyball girls regained their winning form with an outstanding straight sets victory just before matches were suspended. All in all, a fantastic morning with all players demonstrating wonderful team spirit, comradery and humility. We look forward to GBC fixtures resuming as quick as possible. Announcements will be communicated via Nexus as further information comes to light.

GBC Primary

Saturday morning saw the first round of the regular season of GBC Primary Sport for Term 3 take place, following last weekend’s pre-season round. TSAC were the host venue this weekend, with fixtures for all teams across all Colleges taking place at both the Primary Campus and Secondary Campus.

It was an excellent morning of sport, with some fantastic matches played across both basketball and football for the morning in beautiful conditions for both sports.

On the basketball court, TSAC teams enjoyed a lot of success, with all three Year 3/4 teams winning their opening round matches, including the Year 3/4 White team being successful in back to back matches for the morning. Their best result was a 32 – 0 win over Redeemer Lutheran College.

The Year 5/6 teams had some hard fought matches across the morning against both Rivermount College and Redeemer Lutheran College, with the Year 5/6 Red, Year 5/6 White and Year 5/6 Sky teams all securing wins for the morning. The Year 5/6 Red team scored 50 points in its first game of the morning, whilst the Year 5/6 White team’s game against Rivermount College was very entertaining, winning 28 – 18.

At the Football fixtures, the Year 5/6 Red team enjoyed the best results of the morning, playing two matches and drawing them both, 2 – 2 against Rivermount College and 3 – 3 against Redeemer Lutheran College.

Well done to all students for the high standard they set as being the host school for the opening round of full length fixtures for the term. The College is due to host fixtures again on Saturday 21 August.
