GBC Secondary

Last Saturday 30 July saw teams travel bay side to Sheldon College for what is always anticipated as our most competitive round of the season. Despite some frustration with officials, students played with utmost dignity and as usual did our school community proud. It was a tough morning across most games; however, the score lines do not reflect just how well our teams played.  A big thank you must go to the wonderful Musical students, who, after a huge week of performances and a late finish Friday night, backed up for their games on Saturday morning. This is a true testament to the quality of our students and their commitment to the GBC sporting program.

This Saturday sees us host Rivermount College and Staines Memorial College on Secondary Campus for volleyball and basketball and Springfield Central Sports Complex for football and touch football. We also have female and male volleyball teams who will compete in the Volleyball QLD Senior Schools Cup on the Gold Coast this Friday to Sunday. We wish all involved in this tournament and GBC sport all the best for their fixtures.

GBC Primary

The past weekend saw the commencement of Term 3 GBC Sport at The Springfield Anglican College. The College hosted 17 fixtures across Football and Basketball, which featured 7 TSAC teams. From all reports it was a good day for all TSAC Primary GBC teams with some strong performances on both the pitch and court.

Secondary Campus is where the Basketball fixtures took place starting with a strong team performance from the ¾ Red team against Redeemer Lutheran College. Swift ball movement and a team mentality saw them come away with a strong win. On the next court the ¾ blue team put on a strong team performance that saw them come away with a tight victory over Sheldon College.  5/6 Red played two fixtures on the day and found themselves coming away with two quality victories. Finally, 5/6 Red put in a gutsy performance which saw the team grow each quarter.

Over on Primary Campus both our 5/6 Red and Blue Football teams took to the field for the first time this season. It was great to hear that so many students enjoyed their first experience of GBC Football and put together strong team performances. The final fixture of the day was our ¾ Football team, who got off to a slow start but came together in the second half to come away with many new skills in what ended up being a tight match.

Well done to all students who played on the weekend and good luck with this week’s fixtures.
