GBC Secondary College Sport
On Saturday 2nd September, we welcomed Faith Lutheran College for our final home fixtures of the season. For many of our Year 12 students, it was their last ever school sport game. Our Senior Firsts and Senior Seconds Basketball team ended up playing an inter-school match with two senior Faith players. The Senior boys had excellent fun on the courts and even welcomed their coaches on to play. Our Intermediate Firsts Basketball team had a tough game and lost 20-38. Positively, our Junior Firsts and Junior Seconds Basketballers won 43-19 and 28-19 respectively. Our Senior Firsts Volleyballers won 3-0 which means they progress to the finals this Saturday 9th September. Similarly, our Senior Seconds Volleyballers won 2-1 and will also progress to the finals. Our Intermediate Firsts and Junior Firsts Volleyballers both won 2-0 for their final match of the season. Our Senior Firsts Touch Football team narrowly lost 4-5, however they also progress to the finals as they finished tied second with Redeemer. The decision of who progressed to the finals was made on points for and against. Well done to our Senior Firsts Touch Football who will progress to the finals ! Our Junior Firsts Touch team won 4-3, our Junior Seconds Touch team lost 2-3 and our Intermediate Touch team lost 1-8. In Football, our Alumni faced our Senior First Football team. Our Senior Firsts won 5-1 and Rohan Chand scored a hat trick. Our Intermediate team lost 6-2 against Faith and our Junior’s won 5-3. A very big thank you goes to Mr Newble and Mr Bannah for cooking up a marvellous BBQ on Primary.
The Term 3 finals are being held at Redeemer on Saturday 9th September where our Senior Firsts Touch Football, Senior Firsts Volleyball and Senior Second Volleyball teams will play for the Championship Title.
