GBC Secondary

Last Saturday saw the Term 3 GBC teams play host to Redeemer Lutheran College, Rochedale, for a wonderful morning of volleyball, football, basketball and touch football first round fixtures. Teams had very pleasing results across the morning. All volleyball and touch football fixtures were played with great tenacity and spirit and featured many girls playing across two games. We thank these girls for making themselves available for the betterment of both sports as required. The Senior Firsts Touch Football and Intermediate Firsts Volleyball teams have shown early on that they are going to be tough to beat throughout the season as have the Senior Firsts Volleyball girls going down narrowly to a very strong RLC outfit following a solid win the week prior in an early round four competition match with Rivermount College.

The Football and Basketball boys had a cracking morning with a tight win for the Junior Football boys and substantial wins to the Senior Firsts and Intermediate Firsts Basketball teams amongst other notable victories. Having entered an additional Senior Seconds team into the competition, an exciting first round game was played between the Senior Seconds White and Senior Seconds Red teams to a vocal crowd and coach of both teams, Ethan Newble, who wasn’t quite sure who to cheer for. He came out a winner either way! A big thank you to Intermediate Seconds Basketball coach Ethan Gerrie for accompanying the team out to Rivermount College for a very early and chilly game as his team are playing an alternate draw.

This weekend will see teams take on the Crusaders from Faith Lutheran College Plainlands at their school. We always enjoy their hospitality and spirited competition. Schedule for fixtures will be available on Nexus by 6pm each Tuesday. Best of luck for all players and coaches for training and matches this week.

GBC Primary

The GBC Primary Term 3 season commenced on Saturday, with basketball and football the focus sports for the term. There are seven basketball and four football teams representing the College this term.

The season commenced with the pre-season round at Redeemer Lutheran College, with all teams participating in a number of half length matches for the morning, to help prepare them for the season proper. It was a great morning for all the teams, with the improvement that students and teams have already made evident to see after playing a handful of games.

This weekend sees the first round of the regular season take place, with TSAC hosting all matches for the competition across all schools for both basketball and football. For TSAC teams, all basketball fixtures will be played at the Secondary Campus, with all football fixtures at the Primary Campus.
