Sports Results – Saturday 1 May 2021
Following a highly successful round of pre-season fixtures against Faith Lutheran College Plainlands the week before, Saturday, 1 May was the start of Term 2 GBC Sport for 2021.
The teams were always in for a tough morning facing the might of Ambrose Treacy College and Brigidine College on their home soil (well home soil at UQ!) and there was never any doubt that they would provide the teams with extremely strong opposition on the court, field and in the nets. The Indoor Cricket teams all enjoyed substantial victories with the Senior and Intermediate teams clocking up over 100 runs each and the Juniors not far behind. Intermediate and Junior Touch Football teams all had solid wins, and with a few more skills sessions, the inexperienced Senior boys should close the gap in future games. The morning’s football fixtures saw the Senior girls play strongly and with a comfortable win, look very good heading into this weekend’s match. The Junior girls left absolutely nothing on the field and played with great spirit through to the final whistle. It was a tough morning on the netball courts and although all results may not have gone TSAC’s way, all teams played strongly and will no doubt be competitive for the remainder of the season. A huge effort from the Seconds and Intermediate A teams who played out a very hard fought match against each other in the absence of Brigidine teams.
All teams look forward to heading to Redeemer Lutheran College this coming Saturday, 8 May for what will be another very tough but rewarding morning for the students.
A big thank you to all coordinators, coaches, officials, staff, Sports Supporters Group, students and families for a fantastic start to Term 2 GBC Sport. All involved look forward to a very enjoyable and successful continuation of the GBC sporting year.
On Saturday, the College hosted the Pre-Season Round of the GBC Primary competition, with fixtures for the Term 2 sports of Netball and Touch Football played at Springfield Central Sports Complex.
The pre-season round sees teams play in multiple shorter length matches across the morning, to help students and teams understand the key rules and game play techniques of the respective sports, before the regular season commences this Saturday, 8 May.
TSAC has an incredible eleven teams competing in Term 2 GBC Primary Sport across the two sports, with every team playing at least three matches across the Pre-Season Round. The level of play, development and understanding of the students in their respective sports is already strongly evident to see, with a number of teams completing an undefeated morning in their pre-season fixtures. This leaves the teams in a very good position heading in their opening round fixtures this weekend at Rivermount College.
