GBC Primary

Saturday’s GBC Primary fixtures saw another impressive weekend of performances by TSAC teams, with the TSAC Blue AFL team now just one win away from completing an undefeated season.

Saturday’s fixtures saw the Primary Campus Oval again host the AFL fixtures, with all teams from all schools present. Both TSAC teams enjoyed successful mornings, with the TSAC Blue team winning both its games in comfortable fashion against Sheldon College and Redeemer Lutheran College, with the TSAC Red team won its third straight match with a thrilling two point win in its clash with Redeemer Lutheran College.

At the Indoor Cricket fixtures, the TSAC Sky Blue team got back to its winning ways with a strong win over Redeemer Lutheran College, whilst the TSAC Red team held on for a thrilling two run win in its match with Redeemer Lutheran College.

A reminder to all parents that due to the GBC Swimming Championships on Friday evening, there are no GBC Primary Sport fixtures this Saturday 20 March. The final round of Term 1 fixtures will take place on Saturday 27 March.

GBC

Last Saturday saw the final round of Term 1 GBC Sports for 2021. Our teams made their way out to Redeemer for a fantastic morning of AFL, Volleyball and Basketball. There were some very pleasing results throughout the day, especially with solid wins seeing our Girls Firsts Basketball and Girls Firsts AFL teams qualifying for grand finals to be held at Sheldon College on Saturday 27 March. We wish these teams and their coaches the very best for their games. Details of these finals will be available soon. It would be wonderful to see as much support as possible for these teams on the day.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank coordinators Natalie Shields (Volleyball), Stephanie McPherson (AFL), Julie Crouch and Laurel Ashwell (Basketball) for their tireless work in ensuring that our students are provided the best opportunities every week to participate in sport and the benefits that stem from this involvement. A big thank you also to our wonderful staff, parents and external coaches for their commitment to our sporting program this term.

Registrations via Nexus have now closed for Term 2 GBC Sports. If your child has not registered please have them contact myself for Netball and Touch Football, Mr Harding for Football and Mr Whitehorne as soon as possible to register. As soon as I have finalised coaches and their availability, I will update and post the term 2 training schedule.

Lastly, we wish Mrs Meiklejohn and her GBC Swimming team all the best for this Friday’s GBC Swimming Championships. The team have prepared very well for these championships and will no doubt do us proud. A reminder to parents that all secondary team members must meet at Secondary Campus no later than 9am for departure to the carnival. If your child will not be returning on the bus that evening, please advise Mrs Meiklejohn by 3pm Wednesday so that bus numbers can be updated. Best wishes again to all involved for wonderful carnival.

Best wishes for a wonderful week ahead.

Sports Coordinator
