GBC Primary

Saturday’s final round of GBC Primary fixtures for Term 3 was an outstanding morning for the teams representing the College, with all teams playing home fixtures to finish their season. It was an incredibly successful morning, which saw 7 of the 8 teams claim victories, including a clean sweep of wins in basketball.

On the football field, both the TSAC Blue and TSAC Red teams secured undefeated seasons, with both teams finishing their season with wins over sides from Redeemer Lutheran College. This was an outstanding effort for both those teams to go through undefeated, so congratulations to all students in those teams for achieving this result, as well as their team coaches Mr Lewis Green and Mr Jordan Davie.

On the basketball court, the TSAC White Boys team finished its season with a comprehensive 57 – 2 win, whilst the TSAC Blue Boys, TSAC Blue Girls and TSAC Red Girls all scored over 30 points in their wins. All these teams secured wins against Redeemer Lutheran College. The TSAC Red Boys team had a close fought match against Ambrose Treacy College, but were able to come away 14 – 10 winners.

Congratulations to all students who represented the College in GBC Primary sport during Term 3, it was wonderful to see so many students back on the field and court after a long absence throughout 2020. Thank you as well to all the team coaches for the time and effort they put into coaching their teams.

Last Saturday’s final round of GBC Sports for term 3 had it all – spirit, comradery, friendly yet fierce competition and a spot of beautiful spring weather to top it off. It was truly humbling to witness across both campuses the efforts of our Sports Supporters Group, led by Warren Newble and Richie Bannah, and the fanfare of balloons, streamers and banners they had set up in the early hours to ensure our departing year 12s had the fitting farewell they deserve. A big thank you to these wonderful parents, who, week in week out, drive terrier spirit from strength to strength. This has been particularly important in the resumption of GBC Sport following COVID cancellations and no doubt a significant contributor to the involvement and enthusiasm of our students, coaches and coordinators.

It is always a pleasure hosting our friends from Faith Lutheran College Plainlands and last weekend we provided them an outstanding morning of sport across both TSAC campuses and at Springfield United Football Club. We had a very successful morning across all four sports with some hard-fought victories and very narrow defeats. A big congratulations to Warren Newble and his First VI Touch Football girls and to coordinators Julie Crouch and Laurel Ashwell with coach Jackson Hayden of the First V Basketball boys, leading their teams to undefeated, outright premierships. This was certainly a very special morning for these teams. Overall, our resumption to GBC Sport has been outstanding. We have fielded the maximum number of teams across each sport and have been competitive in all aspects. We look forward to hosting a wonderful GBC Gala Day involving students from year 3 to 12 on October 24th. All students have the opportunity to play mixed touch and mixed netball and are encouraged to sign up via the link on Nexus by no later this Friday 18th September. It is sure to be a fantastic day. A heartfelt thank you again to all involved in GBC Sport this term.
