GBC Secondary College Sport

On Saturday 11 May, our students hosted Sheldon College for the third round of Term 2 sports.  We valiantly won the Senior Firsts Girls netball game 22-13. This is the first time in many years that our Netballers have defeated Sheldon College in the Seniors. This was a tremendous combined effort with students working together to achieve this tremendous result. Similarly, the Intermediate First and Second netball teams won 37-29 and 38-2 respectively. Our Junior netball teams were defeated. In Indoor Cricket, Junior Firsts faced a tough match with a final score of 16-189 runs. The Intermediate Firsts showcased their skills with a win over Faith Lutheran College 108-103 runs, in a thrilling ending to their game coming down to the last ball. Our Senior Firsts secured a commanding win over ATC, scoring 84 runs to 60. In Touch Football, we unfortunately faced defeats across all teams. Lastly, in Soccer, the Junior Firsts and Senior Firsts won 1-0. The Senior Firsts pulled together despite many injuries. Unfortunately, the Intermediate First Soccer team went down 5-0 to Sheldon.

This weekend we host Staines Memorial College at home where another vibrant BBQ will be hosted by our P&F on the Secondary Campus.

Indoor Cricket

On Saturday, our TSAC Red and Year 3/4 team played double headers for Indoor Cricket at QIA Browns Plains.  Our TSAC Red team displayed strong batting partnerships and great bowling, laying the foundations for great wins in both games 81 to 40 and 113 to 93.  The Year 3/4 team won their first game (88 to 42) but went down in the second game in a nail biting finish to Redeemer (118 to 117).  The boys played extremely well and were just unlucky in the end.  The TSAC Blue team had another good win again Redeemer (96 to 84).

Congratulations to all the the players on a job well done.

Touch Football

On Saturday, TSAC travelled to Sheldon College for their third round of GBC Touch Football. Year 5/6 Blue were to first to take the field against Redeemer, TSAC showed excellent skill in attack and defence against an under strength Redeemer team resulting in TSAC coming away with the win.  Year 5/6 Red were next to take the field against a spirited Staines team and both teams were trading tries early on however TSAC showed class in their attack, taking the victory in the end.  The two Year 3/4 teams played simultaneously, and with both teams showing significant improvement in their rucking and passing saw them both emerge as winners against their opponents.

We are hopeful for an equally successful week next week where TSAC will travel to Staines Memorial College.
