Giving Tree

Dear Parents

Our College community is well known for its generosity towards our Christmas Giving Tree Project. All of the donated presents and gift vouchers have been collected by Anglicare to be distributed to needy children and families.  Anglicare representatives spoke to our students at our final Assembly to thank our TSAC community for their generosity of spirit and spoke about how these gifts will make a huge difference in the lives of disadvantaged children at Christmas time.  This is a fantastic tradition at our College, of which we can all be proud.

The Year 6 Valedictory Chapel was a wonderful rite of passage celebration for our Year 6 students as they concluded their Primary schooling and received a fond farewell from the Primary Campus. The service was a moving reflection of the strong friendships and bonds made over the past years, and we look forward to welcoming them to the Secondary Campus as Year 7 students next year.

I would like to thank parents for completing the MMG survey in Term 3.  The College has now received the results and feedback from the survey, and an information evening will be scheduled in Term 1 next year, where I will share the results with our College Community.

Those who have been at the College for a number of years will know of Horizons Magazine.  As we approach the College’s 25th Anniversary next year and the launch of our new TSAC Alumni Association, Horizons will become a key publication to support our ongoing relationship with past students.  You are welcome to read and share a digital copy of the publication here.

The 2022 College Yearbook was distributed to students on the last day of Term.  Year 12 leavers are welcome to collect their copy from the Secondary Campus Reception.  Students who were absent on the last day of Term can collect their copy at the commencement of school in 2023.

I hope that you and your family have a happy, safe and holy Christmas, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back at the start of 2023.

My Best wishes

Steven Morris
Principal

From the Chaplain

Dear parents

It is always surreal to arrive at the end of the school year, for students and for staff. Personally, I am enormously grateful for all the help and support I’ve been given in my first year as the new College Chaplain. There have been inevitable ups and downs on both campuses, but it is always good to look back and take away particular memories from the year. Some of the highlights for me included some of the big events (my Commissioning service, ANZAC Day, the brilliant Mamma Mia! musical, the Cultural Week Assembly, and Book Week), but also moments in time when students and staff acted in ways that reflected their compassionate hearts or their ability to put values like Respect, Integrity and Courage into natural practice.

One such moment that stands out was during one of our Rosie’s outreach nights, sharing food and drinks with people who were homeless or in need, when two of our students spontaneously went and kicked a ball around with a young person who had come to our van feeling lonely and looking for some company. Simultaneously, other customers who stepped out of the Thread Together van wearing new clothes and huge smiles. They were magical moments and I was incredibly proud of our students for taking the initiative.

Christmas is all about God taking the initiative and entering into our world in the form of a small, struggling child, soon-to-be-a refugee, before growing into the man Jesus who would live, die and be raised to new life, having demonstrated courage and obedience in everything. As the prophet Isaiah said, ‘The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.’  Jesus is the light who has come into our world, and everyone who spends some time at Christmas saying and doing things that build up family and community are effectively spreading the light of goodness in a world that very much needs it.

May you and your family be blessed throughout Advent and Christmas, and may you know the Hope, Peace, Joy and Love of Christ, who is “God with us”.

Peace in Christ,

Rev. Jonathan Kemp
College Chaplain
