From the Principal
At the end of last week we farewelled our Year 12 students from the College. The Graduation Ceremony was attended by all students on the Secondary Campus with our Year 12 parents and Prep students as special guests. Our Seniors then joined their parents for their Night of Reflection to celebrate their schooling and remember the wonderful times they have had together as a cohort. We wish our Graduating Class of 2021 the very best for their upcoming exams and for the years that lay ahead of them as they forge their careers and families and give back to their communities through their wonderful generosity of spirit.
During this week our students were given the opportunity to participate in the Festival of Learning events. This is an initiative of The Springfield Learning Coalition, an organisation involving the principals of schools in Springfield. Some wonderful experiences and opportunities were afforded our students as they participated with students from other schools. Engineering and maths challenges, sporting activities, First Nations mural painting, leadership seminars, music workshops and concerts were just some of the activities our students were involved in.
Our Year 9.1 Debating team has made it through to the Grand Final of the Queensland Debating Union. This is an outstanding achievement for our Year 9.1 Debating team who contest the Grand Final on Wednesday next week.
Our Primary Campus String Ensembles and Junior Choir represented the College at the annual Musicfest competition. The Grainger String Ensemble was awarded a Silver award, the Sculthorpe String Ensemble received a Platinum award and our Junior Choir received a Gold award. We congratulate our young musicians and the staff who direct them on this great result.
The College observes the Ekka Holiday, which was moved to this Friday 29 October when the Ekka was cancelled earlier this year. As a result, the College will be closed this coming Friday 29 October.
My best wishes
