From the Principal
We had a very positive end to Term 4 and I applaud our College Community on their resilience in what was another difficult year.
The beginning of the Christmas holiday period has been eventful with the government announcement of mandatory vaccinations for all staff in schools and the recent opening of our Queensland border. Understandably, there are members of our College Community who are feeling anxious at this time.
The Health Direction
The COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements for Workers in a high-risk setting Direction was issued by the Chief Health Officer on Saturday 11 December. This health direction includes early childhood, primary and secondary educational settings. In response to the new Health Direction, the College has formulated a new policy and procedure and is currently working with College Staff to ensure that our operations are compliant. All College employees and other workers engaged by the College are affected by this and at this stage it is not known what affect the new Health Direction will have on the services offered by the College.

Appointment of Chaplain
The Chaplain has an important role within our College, and we have been actively seeking a Chaplain throughout 2021. I am pleased to announce that the Reverend Jonathan Kemp will join our College Community as our Chaplain from the commencement of 2022 and has been licenced by the Archbishop. Reverend Jonathan has degrees in English, Education and Theology, has been a teacher and was the Diocesan Director of Youth, Children’s and Families Ministry. We look forward to welcoming Reverend Jonathan to our College.
College Strategic Plan
Our current Strategic Plan comes to an end in 2022. Earlier this year I invited parents and staff to complete a survey to provide input into our next Strategic Plan and I thank everyone for their feedback. The College will be launching its new strategic direction very early next term and I look forward to sharing this with you.
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas day, I give thanks that there is a community like the one we have here at The Springfield Anglican College. I hope you and your family have a safe and holy Christmas.
My best wishes
