Dear Parents

I would like to thank parents for taking time to complete the Parent Survey in preparation for our new Strategic Plan.  The feedback received from our parent body has been very helpful and insightful.  We are currently in the process of identifying common threads in the survey results and when this process is complete, a parent feedback evening will be organised to present these results and provide opportunity for parents to provide further feedback.

Our Dance ensembles have been participating in the Ipswich Junior Eisteddfod and the Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge.  It is a delight to see so many of our students involved in Dance throughout the College.  All ensembles have received excellent feedback and enjoyed great success, as well as gaining valuable experience of performing in front of live audiences.  Special mention should be made of the Junior Dance Troupe who achieved first place in both competitions and Junior Dance Company who achieved a first and third place.  Our Junior Dance Team were awarded second place and Senior Dance Troupe awarded third place in their sections with the Mini Beats Crew, Student Hip Hop and Senior Dance Company all awarded Highly Commended.  A tremendous effort by our young dancers and their teachers.

There will be some staff changes on the Secondary Campus next term.  Today we farewelled Mrs Stephanie Hogan (Head of Academic Enrichment) and Mr Graham Swinton (Head of Activities and Standards).  Stephanie is moving interstate to be with her husband. Graham will join the leadership team of his new school as Dean of Students.  Mrs Sarah Pierce (Head of Clan Keith) will be taking maternity leave and Mrs Rebecca Newman will be acting Head of Clan whilst Sarah is on leave.

This evening, our Year 12 students have their Formal.  We are truly blessed in Queensland to have relatively safe COVID conditions enabling right-of-passage events such as this.  Less than 12 months ago, the 2020 graduates celebrated their Formal under very strict rules with no dancing and limited movement in the venue.  We give thanks to God that tonight; our Year 12 students will enjoy a formal with some normality and pray that our future events can be afforded similar freedoms during this world-wide pandemic.

I hope that you can find some time for refreshment during this holiday period.  It has been a busy term and I look forward to welcoming everyone back in Term 3.

My very best wishes

Steven Morris.
