BYOD Program 2023
The BYOD program commences in Year 3 on the Primary Campus and continues throughout their learning journey to Year 12. With the demands of a robust digital curriculum and external and national tests such as NAPLAN utilising digital interfaces, our BYOD program aims to set up our students for future success. Specific programs, training and lessons are in place to help our technology users learn how to care for and manage their devices.

*Please note if students are considering Creative arts, Media or Design and Tech subjects you should consider higher-end devices due to the workload on the machine for the best possible outcomes.
- Consider portability. Laptops with larger screens can be heavy and more easily dropped. Screens ranging between 12 inches to 15 inches are the most portable options.
- A robust laptop bag or protective sleeve is recommended.
- Students must ensure they bring a fully charged laptop with them to school each day, however they should also bring their charging cable with them. As devices age, battery life becomes poorer.
Software and Subscriptions
All students from Year 3 to Year 12 are supplied with access to the Office 365 suite. Students can download the software to their personal device or login to the applications to activate their student account. This suite includes access to cloud storage space on OneDrive. Students are encouraged to connect their OneDrive and save their school work in this space to ensure it is safely backed up.
iPads and Mobile Devices
It should be noted that iOS devices, such as iPads, no longer meet the minimum specifications of a main learning device on the Secondary campus. They are welcome as an additional device. Similarly, mobile phones continue to be welcome at the College, but cannot be used as a student’s main learning device. Mobile phones used in the classroom are at the explicit direction of the classroom teacher and are governed by the expectations in our Acceptable Use Policy.
Purchasing Student Devices
To help parents easily arrange a suitable device for their student, the College has partnered with JB Hi-Fi . These suppliers provide a portal for parents to purchase devices. All products offered have education discounted pricing, robust parts, financing options, extended warranty and accidental damage insurance options. Do we have to purchase a device from JB Hi-Fi?
These are purely recommendations that we supply to you so long as they meet the minimum system require outlined above any device is suitable.
Why is a touch screen and stylus important in Primary School?
Some classes require you to be able to draw or outline certain aspects of the work which is more easily done with Stylus on a touch screen.
Why can’t students on the Primary Campus not have a Macbook?
Due to the complexity and differences from a windows machine when a teacher is showing her class how to do certain activities that will be shown on a windows device and would cause confusion from non uniform devices in class.
Do I need to purchase Office 365 for my student?
No you do not, this is supplied to all students.
What kind of threat protection does the college provide?
We have a series of web filters on our network to ensure the security of devices.
