Altitude Enrichment Class
Identified high ability students will be invited to join the Altitude Enrichment classes in their areas of strength.
Primary Altitude (Years 1 to 6)
This is a pull-out program, where high ability students will form multi age groupings and participate in a range of challenging projects, designed to extend and enrich their learning. Students will participate in programs such as Future Problem Solving, STEM Innovation projects, and a Great Books Program.
High ability students in Years 7 and 8 have the opportunity to choose Altitude as one of their elective subjects. Students will work with like minded students in a Great Books program, offering a shared inquiry approach to a range of quality literature, and which develops a deep critical understanding of the literature in its historical, social and political contexts.
Altitude options also offer a STEM based program, exploring real world problems and using science and mathematical learning, and design thinking processes, to develop solutions to these challenging projects.
In Year 9, Altitude students are able to undertake independent studies through online university portals, to explore potential future pathways, or simply an area they are interested in. Through this program, students develop their academic skills and behaviours and the capacity to work autonomously, driving their own learning.
